2013 Great Baltimore Mac-Off is Saturday, September 14th!

Do you have a little “food snob” in you?  Are you a Chef (or a wannabe)?  Do you watch hours of Cooking Channel or Food Network, and are you convinced you could *totally* do that?  We know how you feel, and we have the perfect thing for you!!   Enter your best uptown, downtown, or all-around-town Mac & Cheese recipe for the Great Baltimore Mac-Off, where we will find out just who can turn their home-spun dish into omg-gotta-have-it goodness!

….or put your palate to work and tell us which of our entries have what it takes to take home the trophy for the Best Mac & Cheese in Baltimore!

The Great Baltimore Mac-Off will be held at 12pm on Saturday, September 14th 2013 at Hampdenfest.  Tasting Tickets will be available at the Info Booth and GBMO booth, starting at 10am the day of the event.  One ticket gets you a sampling of all entries.  Tickets are $10, and proceeds will benefit the Hampden Food Pantry, a local food bank that provides groceries to hundreds of families in North Baltimore.

The Great Baltimore Mac-Off is a Macaroni & Cheese  cooking contest,open to both amateurs and professionals.  The “Mac-Off” takes place annually at HampdenFest in Baltimore, Maryland.  Proceeds from the event benefit local charities.
 
In 2011, we had 12 entries, more than 200 tasters, and 3 judges.  The winners were:  (photo below)

  • People’s Choice for the Best Mac & Cheese in Baltimore: Corner BYOB

Congratulations to our winners, and thanks to everyone who helped make the 1st Annual Great Baltimore Mac-Off a huge success!  We raised more than $500 to help the Hampden Food Pantry feed local families in need of assistance. 

Are you ready to get your Mac on?  Our next event will be held in September of 2012.  The official “call for entries” will happen in early summer of 2012.  Start working on your recipes now, next year is going to be awesome!
